TWENTY16 Ridebiker Announces Roster for World Championship Team Time Trial

(Boise, Idaho) September 29, 2016 — TWENTY16 Ridebiker announces their 2016 World Championship Team Time Trial roster with three-time Olympic Champion Kristin Armstrong leading one of the strongest teams assembled for the October 9th event in Doha, Qatar.

“I look forward to participating in the TTT World Championships with Team TWENTY16 RideBiker. After winning the TTT in Tour of California this past May we are all very motivated to get back on the top step against the world’s best. When a team rides as a “unit” it doesn’t matter the course. We kicked off our camp last week in Boise, Idaho prior to traveling to Doha and we used the camp to continue to improve together,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong is joined by the powerful group of Olympic silver medalist and 2015 Junior world road and time trial champion, Chloe Dygert (USA), Allie Dragoo (USA), Alison Jackson (CAN), Leah Thomas (USA), and 2016 Canadian National Road Champion Annie Foreman-Mackey (CAN).

“I’m really looking forward to the TTT World Championships with my TWENTY16 Ridebiker teammates, we’ve done all the proper team preparation needed and now it is all down to which team wants it more. I am really excited to finish the season off with a team event and also be apart of Kristin’s final World Championships,” Dygert said.

Armstrong, the most decorated USA female cyclist, has held a vital role in the development and growth of women’s cycling the past decade. An active member within the cycling community, Armstrong thrives on the team dynamic and expressed that winning the team time trial at Amgen Tour of California was a career highlight for her.  While this is Armstrong’s final World Championships, she will not stray far from the team that she has called home since 2010. Armstrong will continue to lend her expertise to the developing time trialists in the TWENTY16 program and will continue to assist in the development in the next generation of female cyclists.

“Winning the team time trial at the Women’s World Tour Amgen Tour of California gave the team great confidence and momentum. Each rider individually has improved their form over the season, giving the team great morale as they head to Qatar,” Nicola Cranmer – General Manager, said. “We have assembled a strong team and put in the homework.”

Carmichael Training System’s premier coach and Head Performance Physiologist Dean Golich has worked with the team specifically in the team time trial preparation for World Championships. Over the past 20 years Golich has been a pioneer in the application of exercise physiology, power training, altitude training and hydration strategies to improve athletic performance.

Long time TWENTY16 partners featured in Doha will be the Felt DA time trial bike, SRAM components with Zipp wheels and bars and Quarq power meters recording the data, Speedplay aero pedals and Arundel cages, JL Velo speedsuits and Catlike helmets.

Dragoo, Jackson and Foreman Mackey will also compete in race the road race for their National Teams. TWENTY16 Ridebiker junior athletes Hannah Arensman and Summer Moak will also be competing in the Junior World Championships in Doha. Arensman the current 17-18 National time trial champion will contest the individual time trial and the road race, while gold medal Pan American omnium champion Moak will contest the road race.

About TWENTY16 Ridebiker

When the team was formed in 2005, TWENTY12 had a definite goal of taking athletes to the 2012 London Olympics. London resulted in 2 Olympic medals; gold and silver, the only U.S based road program to achieve this. The team replicated its success with a gold and silver in Rio 2016 Olympics. Youth cycling is an important component to the program, supporting 14 of the top juniors in the nation ranging in ages 11-18. These young women learn essential skills such as teamwork, sacrifice and commitment that they can carry over to the work place if a professional athletic career is not pursued. In 2001 TWENTY16 was the first American team to recruit a Para-Cycling athlete to the roster of a professional squad and is still the only professional team to have an integrated junior program.

About the Ride 4 Education Scholarship Program

The Ride 4 Education program, co-founded by Barry Bonds, TWENTY16 General Manager Nicola Cranmer and Team Director Mari Holden began in 2015. The program offers scholarships to members of the TWENTY16 junior development program. TWENTY16 has successfully developed junior athletes and connected them with colleges as they graduate from high school. TWENTY16 then enables these athletes to race with the development and professional race programs while attending college and fulfilling collegiate academic and race obligations. The ethos of the Ride 4 Education Program aligns with the education mission of the TWENTY16 program – allowing the athletes to obtain the best education possible for life after cycling. Ride 4 Education.

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
