TBI and USA Triathlon Collaborate on Annual Business and Race Director Conferences

Austin, TX – August 30, 2016 – Triathlon Business International (TBI), the industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon, and USA Triathlon, the national governing body of the sport, today announced a collaboration to consecutively  present their respective annual conferences: TBI’s 7th Annual Business Conference and USA Triathlon’s  Annual Race Director Symposium, both presented by ACTIVE Network®. The conferences will be held at The Fairmont Dallas Hotel, starting Friday, Jan. 20 through Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017. The joint endeavor eliminates the need for participants to go to two locations on different weekends, with an exponential cost of two separate trips.  More learning, one location.

The annual USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium is an opportunity for race directors to gain extensive knowledge from top professionals in event planning and execution, as well as gain important continuing education units to enhance their professional status. The USA Triathlon symposium will run from Jan. 20 to 22, with check-in/registration on Jan. 19.

“The entire USA Triathlon staff looks forward to this inaugural collaboration and to welcoming our race director family to Dallas in January,” said Kathy Matejka, USA Triathlon Event Services Director. “The business and industry of triathlon are evolving rapidly, and the competitive economic climate requires this type of collaboration. We feel it is important to our members and industry constituents that we provide the best opportunities for knowledge and growth. The conference partnership with TBI provides both.”

TBI’s conference addresses the business aspects of the swim-bike-run industry focusing on topics such as trends and predictions in retailing, equipment, technology applications, international expansion, new concepts, risks, legal issues, customer service, event management, and more.  The check-in/registration for the TBI Conference is Sunday, Jan. 22 with programming through Jan. 24.

“We are looking forward to this endeavor and believe it will clearly expand the breadth and depth of information sharing,” said TBI president Richard Adler. “On behalf of TBI, I hope this is just the first of our collaborative efforts with USA Triathlon to improve and grow the sport of triathlon.”

USA Triathlon and TBI will present joint programming on Sunday, Jan. 22 leading off with an “A List” keynote lunch speaker, with both conferences, individually and jointly, presenting optimum opportunities for networking with peers, meeting new colleagues and learning about the latest happenings in the sport.  ACTIVE Network will be hosting a Reception Sunday night at their headquarters for attendees of both conferences.

“The combination of these two conferences will benefit both organizations as well as the sport itself,” said Sam Renouf, General Manager, Sports, ACTIVE Network.  “Strategic partnerships like this have significant potential for everyone involved.  Having partnered with USA Triathlon and Triathlon Business International for over 5 years now, we are pleased to support both organizations in an even greater capacity next year and to welcome them to our home office in Dallas.”

Registration will open next month through ACTIVE, and be announced by each organization through multiple communications channels.
