Denver, CO – As crafters of the #1 Most-Worn Helmet at the IRONMAN® World Championship for the past five consecutive years, Rudy Project is proud to recognize six of their top professional triathletes for outstanding victories across North America this past weekend. With the help of their Technically Cool gear, Heather Jackson, Andy Potts, Josh Amberger, Jennifer Spieldenner, Cameron Dye, and Sarah Haskins all came away with wins at their respective races.
At IRONMAN® Lake Placid, Heather Jackson not only smashed the field, but she also smashed the previous course record. With a 1:00:22 swim, an incredible 4:57:36 bike leg, and a smoking women’s best 3:07 marathon run, Jackson finished in 9:09:42 which put her 35:18 ahead of second place and 43:49 of third.
While the women’s field in New York offered a pro purse, the men were busy battling for prize money at IRONMAN® Canada. The overall title was given to Andy Potts, who used his terrific swim and bike splits to hold off fellow Rudy athlete Pedro Gomes and eventually take the tape. Potts led the swim in 47:03, crushed the bike in 4:31:07, and ran through the finish line with a 2:58:19 marathon. He finished in 8:20:23 with a 7:08 lead over Gomes.
Over at IRONMAN® 70.3 Calgary, Josh Amberger and Jennifer Spieldenner went to battle at the half distance, both earning themselves a well-deserved victory. On the men’s side, Amberger raced out of the water first and never looked back. With a split of 22:02, he remained confident and earned himself a 1:58:57 bike and a 1:18:27 run, both which held off the field. He finished in 3:40:52, placing him 9:49 ahead of his closest competitor.
On the women’s side, Spieldenner also led the swim in 23:34, but rolled into T2 12 seconds behind the leader. Spieldenner put her game face on for the run, but eventually realized victory would come down to a sprint finish. She crossed the line with a 1:27:55 half marathon, only 4 seconds ahead of second place. Her finishing time was 4:14:49.
Another nail biting finish occurred at the NYC Triathlon, were Sarah Haskins grabbed victory at the Olympic distance by a mere 24 seconds. Haskins just barely came out of the water first, but never broke ahead until the run. She took the tape with a 36:14 split and a 1:57:59 finishing time. Cameron Dye also made his mark in New York, earning the overall men’s title in a blazing 1:48:31. Dye led the course from the beginning with a 12:02 swim, 57:06 bike leg, and 35:24 run to finish it off.
