QUANTICO, VA (Sept. 28, 2016) – The Marine Corps Historic Half will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Sunday, May 21 in Fredericksburg, VA by introducing an entirely new challenge – the Devil Dog Double.
Runners participating in the Devil Dog Double will run the Semper Five and after completing that five-mile event, will run another 13.1 miles to complete the Marine Corps Historic Half, making it the Devil Dog Double.
Online registration for the Devil Dog Double, including both events, opens Wednesday, Oct. 19, just prior to the 41st Marine Corps Marathon at http://ift.tt/yjG9qn. Registration costs $85.
The Devil Dog Double will spur runners to charge the infamous Hospital Hill not once, but twice. Hospital Hill is the challenging 200-foot steady incline on the Mary Washington Healthcare campus, famed for its location adjacent to the hospital’s emergency room entrance.
For their accomplishment, runners will get not one, not two, but three stunning finisher medals after completing the Devil Dog Double.
“Over the past 10 years, the Marine Corps Historic Half has earned its reputation as of one of the best half marathons in history,” says Rick Nealis, Marine Corps Marathon Director. “Now many can enjoy the challenge of the new Devil Dog Double and another opportunity to ‘run with the Marines’ this spring.”
Runners must complete the Semper Five and cross the finish line by 7:45 a.m. on Historic Half morning, before immediately turning around to begin running the Historic Half. The Historic Half course will remain open until 11 a.m., but a maximum pace of nine minutes-per-mile for the Semper 5ive portion of the challenge is required to participate.

The Marine Corps Historic Half, established in 2008, is held annually in Fredericksburg, VA hosts 10,000 runners participating in half marathon and five-mile distance events.
