Campagnolo extends title sponsorship at GFNY World Championship NYC

NEW YORK CITY, September 27, 2016 – The global cycling marathon series, GFNY and storied Italian bike part manufacturer Campagnolo extend their multi-year partnership. Campagnolo remains exclusive title sponsor of the GFNY World Championship NYC for three more years.

“Campagnolo produces the finest products available so athletes reach their true potential whereas GFNY has created an experience in which that potential can be tested fully,” says Joshua Riddle, Marketing Manager of Campagnolo. “Riders searching for something more in their cycling components choose Campagnolo. Riders looking for a cycling race above and beyond others choose GFNY.”

Campagnolo provides mechanical support during the race, equips the winner bikes with components and wheels, and grants several more of their products to winners of various race categories.

“Having the most storied brand in all of cycling as title sponsor for our GFNY World Championship in NYC is an honor,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Since 2003, I have not had any other component on my bikes. Having such a personal connection to Campagnolo makes this the perfect partnership.”

Campagnolo also fully sponsors the GFNY ambassador team “Gruppo Sportivo” with Campagnolo Record components and Eurus wheels.

“Our Gruppo Sportivo riders come from all walks of life and lead our free Sunday group rides to get riders ready for race day,” adds GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “These guys and gals have become true role models for many GFNY riders. That direct and relatable exposure of Campagnolo is extremely powerful.”

New for 2017, GFNY offers a special start corral for members of the Campagnolo Riders Club. Anyone who has a bike equipped with Campagnolo components and wheels, gets to start in a corral just behind the racer corral. Club membership is free and can be obtained at the Campagnolo booth at NYC Bike Expo on May 19 and 20, 2017 which is the packet pickup for GFNY NYC.

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
