The Island House Invitational Triathlon announces preliminary start list

Nassau, Bahamas – August 9th, 2016 – The Island House Invitational Triathlons announced a preliminary start list for the three-day non-drafting triathlon stage race set for October 28th to 30th in the Bahamas. The race format serves as a platform for many of the world’s premier triathletes to go head-to-head in a battle like no other race in the world.  The international mix of short-course and long-course athletes ensures an exciting match-up that triathlon has never seen before. Offering the world’s second largest prize purse at $500,000, it is no surprise that some of our world’s best will be toeing the start line in October.

The innovative race structure will include individual time trials and races that mix up the traditional triathlon order and distances of swim-bike-run. This year’s race format and field have been expanded to make the event more exciting than ever. Competitors will compete over three days in various non-drafting events, a departure from last year’s draft-legal racing. This should make for an even more exciting match-up and level the playing field between short and long-course competitors. In 2016, the Island House Triathlons feature an elimination format. Forty athletes will compete over the first two days of the event, but only 10 men and 10 women will remain for the final day of racing when the champions will be decided. The 20 finalists will be whisked from Nassau to the private island of Highbourne Cay in a race that literally rewards survival of the “fittest”.

A one-hour national TV broadcast  will showcase the athletes, the lead-up to the race, the competitors, and the race itself making this a premier event to showcase athletes, sponsors, and the beautiful Bahamas.

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
