TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —The Tallahassee Marathon and Half Marathon has launched a new smartphone app that adds a technological touch for runners and spectators on race day and throughout the year. The app is available on iOS and Android devices, and is called, “TLH Marathon.” The app features a countdown to to the start of the race, course information, sponsorship highlights, and even the ability to register to run the Capital City course this coming February.
“More than 60% of runners are carrying their phones with them when they train, and we know even more of them are using there phones all day, every day,” said Ely Rosario, race director for the Tallahassee Marathon. “This app is a great opportunity for all those interested in learning more about our hometown marathon and half marathon to connect with us in a new, dynamic way.”
The 43rd Tallahassee Marathon and Half Marathon courses span 26.2 miles and 13.1 miles respectively. The race will feature aid stations, chip timing and other conveniences for runners taking on these distances. An expo event will take place on Feb. 5, 2017, and a finish line festival will take place following the race, both hosting vendors, keynote speeches and giveaways.
The race is presented by Gulf Winds Track Club, and benefits the Hang Tough Foundation. Gulf Winds Track Club was founded in 1975. The club hosts a full schedule of races throughout the year on road, track, and trail, from a 50-meter dash to a 50-mile run. Gulf Winds Track Club and its members also support other running and fitness related activities and events in the community.
The Hang Tough Foundation is the charity partner for the 2017 Tallahassee Marathon. Hang Toughs’s mission is to be a physical, mental, and financial reprieve for families with children experiencing illness or special needs. Their programs are designed to provide support, hope and encouragement to clients during their journey.
