(San Francisco, CA) – IRONMAN champion and three time IRONMAN 70.3 champion, Sarah Piampiano, has announced her near-term racing plans with two races on the calendar in July before she begins her IRONMAN World Championship build in August and September.
Piampiano will race IRONMAN 70.3 Racine in Racine, Wisc. on July 17th and IRONMAN Vineman in Windsor, Calif. on July 30th. The 2016 season has been a lighter racing calendar so far for Piampiano as she amassed enough points to secure 2016 Kona qualification at the end of last season. The more relaxed schedule has allowed her to recuperate from a busy 2015 and to arrive fit and healthy to tackle the second half of the 2016 season.
“After withdrawing from the start list at the North American IRONMAN Championships in May, I wanted to make sure I got in a summer Iron distance race before Kona in order to test out some new strategies and changes we have made.”
Living just 40 minutes away from the race headquarters, Piampiano will be one of the hometown favorites at the race.
“IRONMAN Vineman is in my backyard, which has allowed me to train on the course and avoids significant travel to a race. I also love the course and think it is one that will become one of the iconic IRONMAN races on the circuit. It will be special for me to have my friends and family there supporting me. Racine fit well in the calendar for me as a perfect lead-in to Ironman Vineman.”
Piampiano will be appearing on the professional athlete panel for the IRONMAN Racine 70.3, which takes place this Saturday July 16th at 3pm in the Racine Civic Center.
