Lumo Bodytech Launches General Availability of Lumo Run Wearable to Improve Running Form and Performance

Mountain View, CA – Lumo Bodytech has announced the general availability of Lumo Run, an advanced wearable and smart sensor that combines the powerful data of a running lab with the personal attention of a coach to help runners improve their performance. Lumo Run, now available for immediate delivery, has been available for pre-sale since October 2015 and has already seen impressive traction.

Lumo Run provides real-time feedback to improve running form and efficiency, which can increase performance and reduce the risk of injury. The lightweight, discreet sensor is placed on the small of the back, either in a clip or a custom pocket integrated into the smart shorts. This location is the ideal placement to measure key metrics like cadence (steps-per-minute), brake (change in horizontal velocity), bounce (vertical oscillation), and important pelvic measurements such as tilt, rotation and drop.

“As a long distance runner myself, I’m acutely aware of the role that proper form and good biomechanics play in an overall positive running experience,” said Monisha Perkash, co-founder and CEO of Lumo Bodytech. “The reality is that many runners don’t have access to a professional coach, so it’s impossible for them to get actionable feedback on their form. Lumo Run solves that problem by measuring sophisticated biomechanics, giving actionable coaching tips and advice, and pushing runners of all levels to reach their peak levels of performance.”

Lumo Run already has the support of top running athletes and coaches including Mark Allen, Meredith Kessler, Matt Dixon, Matt Fitzgerald, Greg McMillan, and Dr. Bryan Heiderscheit.

“Even the most mindful runners find it difficult to accurately tell if they’re maintaining proper form,” said Matt Fitzgerald, a renowned endurance running coach, certified sports nutritionist and best-selling author. “Lumo Run is a game-changer for runners looking to improve performance by determining where they can adjust their form, and offering actionable feedback to help make those changes a reality.”

Lumo Run’s features include:

  • Real-Time Audio Coaching: In-run auditory coaching through your headphones for real-time feedback on form for immediate improvement.
  • Post-Run Insights: Powerful post-run insights into running form, as well as personal recommendations for drills and exercises for long-term improvement.
  • Lab-Grade Biomechanics Data: Analysis of five lab-grade biomechanics metrics for targeted training: cadence, bounce, braking, pelvic rotation and drop.
  • Phone-Free Option: Wireless sync ability so runners can train without a phone and still gain access to post-run insights and recommendations.

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
