AUSTIN, Texas, August 8, 2016 — On Sunday, August 7th, more than 700 registrants participated in the 14th Annual Jack’s Generic Triathlon (JGT) at Lake Pflugerville – near Austin, Texas. Jack’s Generic Tri, voted 2015’s second best Short Distance Triathlon by Austin Fit Magazine, is one of the more participant-friendly triathlons, shifting focus from big sponsors and elite athletes to the everyday triathlete and their race.
The athletes took on sprint (500m swim, 12.9 mile bike, 3 mile run), intermediate (1000m swim, 25.8 mile bike, 6 mile run), and aquabike (1000m swim, 25.8 mile bike) distances and enjoyed one of the best post-race parties in Central Texas. The High Five Events crew spent the better part of two days before the event working to remove much of the disliked hydrilla that is known to consume Lake Pflugerville.
“JGT provides a great challenge, no matter what event you registered for,” said 14-year-old participant Jordan Trimyer, who finished the sprint distance in 1:27:22. “High Five Events did a great job putting on a spectacular event and even made the swim easier by removing most of the hydrilla!”
Clif Bar, the Official Sports Nutrition for Jack’s Generic Triathlon, provided all of their products, including their newly released Clif Nut Butter Filled Bars, and refueled both athletes and volunteers. Participants received JGT shirts, free post-race massages, custom water bottles, swim caps, beer, a post-race meal, and the signature swag toss. Additionally, professional timing and photography, as well as a great volunteer crew and hundreds of supportive spectators, helped make this triathlon a success.
Jack’s Generic Tri is the third event of the Texas Tri Series (http://ift.tt/2aFViCN), a series designed to start with a short sprint triathlon and finish with a half iron distance. To complete the series a person must participate in or volunteer for each of the events. Every finisher of the series is invited to the well-known and well-attended Finisher’s Party.
Jack’s Generic Tri would like to thank all of the volunteers for coming out and making today’s event as great as it was. Your willingness to get up extra early and cheer on every participant truly made a difference in their experience. JGT would also like to thank our sponsors Clif Bar, Third Base Sports, and Ben Phillips, Real Estate Advisor for Engel and Volkers Austin.
