Heather Jackson (Bend, OR) Dominates Talented Pro Field With Course Record At 2016 IRONMAN Lake Placid Triathlon

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (July 24, 2016) – Heather Jackson (USA) showed toughness and determination as she battled a competitive women’s professional field to claim victory at the 2016 IRONMAN^® Lake Placid triathlon. Jackson pulled off a brilliant run with a finish time of 9:09:42, a new course record.

The 2016 IRONMAN^® Lake Placid triathlon saw approximately 2,500 athletes representing 22 countries and 44 states start the race. Competitors ranged in age from 18-79 years old. One of more than 40 events in the global IRONMAN Series, athletes took on a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run throughout Lake Placid and its surrounding areas. The swim took place in the clear waters of Mirror Lake, while the two-loop bike course took athletes through the scenic and challenging Adirondack Mountains. The two-loop run course ventured through the town and back around Mirror Lake for a spectacular finish in the Olympic Speed Skating Oval. The event offered a total female professional prize purse of $50,000 and 40 coveted age-group qualifying slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship, taking place on October 8 in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.
