Gold’s Gym Acquires Santa Barbara-area Bay Clubs

Today, Gold’s Gym franchisees announced their acquisition of three local Bay Club gyms. The gym model that revolutionized fitness is back and better than ever, bringing its proven fitness approach to spaces formerly occupied by the Bay Club, including the uptown location on State Street, the downtown location on Carrillo, and the Goleta location on Calle Real.

Immediately upon the official transfer of operations, franchise owners and brothers, Angel and Willy Banos will be working to provide members with updated amenities, diverse programs and their signature service, which has received industry awards and acknowledgment. Improvement plans include renovated locker rooms, new flooring, new group fitness programs, pro shops (Gold’s Gym retail center), bottle drinks & bars, and Super Nutrition by dotFIT.

The Gold’s Gym management team has been meeting with the The Bay Club staff over the last month to ensure a seamless transition.

“Our main focus is to make a positive impact on people’s lives through our passion for fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” said Willy Banos, Vice President and COO of Gold’s Gym Santa Barbara. “As one of the top performing franchisees, we are dedicated to raising the bar for the Gold’s Gym experience and developing, evolving and expanding the brand.”

During the next two months, additional Gold’s Gym representatives will be on site to assist individuals in converting Bay Club memberships and accepting new memberships. Even with facility, amenity and program improvements in the works, membership rates will not increase. Reduced monthly rates are available with longer contract commitments.

“Santa Barbara is particularly special to us as it has been our home for the last four years and we are looking forward to providing a positive influence within the community,” added Angel Banos, President and CEO of Gold’s Gym Santa Barbara. “We are committed to reinvigorating Gold’s Gym as a place that not only allows you to achieve your health and fitness goals, but a place where you want to be: to connect, to escape, to relax and – of course – sweat.”

Angel and Willy Banos opened their first Gold’s Gym in 1987 in North Hollywood, expanding to 15 gyms in California since then. Their passion for health, wellness and fitness led them to Gold’s Gym where they now operate the largest Gold’s Gym franchise group in the state.

Gold’s Gym’s three new Santa Barbara County locations are at 21 W Carrillo St, Santa Barbara (Downtown), 3908 State St, Santa Barbara (Uptown), and 6144 Calle Real, Goleta. For more information visit http://ift.tt/1OFFekt.

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
