WICHITA, Kan. – Running USA, the national non-profit trade organization for running events and businesses, is pleased to announce the naming of ACTIVE Network’s Gary Schwake as President and Mike Coleman as Vice President of the Running USA Board of Directors, while Fetal Health Foundation’s Lonnie Somers and I Am Athlete’s Jeff Matlow continue to serve as Treasurer and Secretary.
At the recent Running USA Board of Directors meeting, June 28-29 in Denver, both Schwake and Coleman were elected to their respective leadership positions. Schwake moves to the President position after serving as Vice President for the past year, while Coleman shifts from a general board member to his Vice President position. Both will serve one year terms.
“Gary and Mike have brought a tremendous amount of knowledge and energy to the board since being elected,” said Running USA CEO Rich Harshbarger. “I welcome them in their new leadership positions and look forward to working closely with each as we continue to grow the organization.”
“I am honored to have been selected by the Board of Directors to serve as President,” said Schwake. “We have developed a true team culture and are all excited about the opportunity to continue to advance the mission of Running USA.”
Schwake replaces two-term President Beth Salinger, who will stay on the Running USA Board of Directors as a general board member. Salinger helped steer Running USA through a number of changes and helped the organization improve in a variety of areas.
“Beth has been an invaluable leader of the board, helping transition the organization through a great deal,” said Running USA Rich Harshbarger. “I look forward to working with Beth in a different capacity now, while turning to her for feedback and guidance as a Running USA board member.”
