NEW YORK CITY – Legendary Italian frame builder De Rosa and the NYC race of the global cycling marathon series GFNY extend their multi-year partnership.
Cicli De Rosa Founder Ugo De Rosa was Eddy Merckx’ frame builder and helped him set up his bike company. “The world of granfondo cycling is very important to De Rosa because the riders understand our bikes,” says Cristiano De Rosa, CEO and son of Ugo. “And GFNY is the only truly international granfondo which is the key reason that De Rosa supports the event. We highly value the feedback of the riders from all over the world.”
De Rosa frames build the foundation of the winner bikes, completed with Campagnolo group sets and wheels.
“Since I started racing as a 16-year old, it’s always been my dream to do so on a De Rosa,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Lidia and I are fortunate to use the Protos at dozens of tough granfondos with all kinds of road and weather conditions. It not only never let us down but also made racing even more fun. My 16-year old self would have been in awe of our privilege to call De Rosa a partner – and I am now.”
De Rosa also sponsors the GFNY ambassador team “Gruppo Sportivo” with their high end Protos frames.

The 7th annual Campagnolo GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 21, 2017. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. Athletes take on a challenging 100-mile route from NYC to Bear Mountain to Fort Lee to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.
At all GFNY events, riders have the chance to qualify for the elite racer corral at the GFNY Championship in NYC by placing in the top 10% (20% at regional championships) of their age group.
