Challenged Athletes Foundation Announces Todd Setter as Director of Events

San Diego, CA – September 20, 2016 – The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) has announced the hire of Todd Setter as its new Director of Events, effective immediately.

The San Diego-based organization provides opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. CAF believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.

Todd joins Team CAF as an experienced professional who has held numerous leadership roles. Most recently, Setter was the Senior Vice President of Events for Ride 2 Recovery, a national nonprofit that supports injured veterans through cycling-based programs. Previously, he worked at ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer, a national nonprofit with the mission to end prostate cancer, as the Director of Community Engagement. Plus, he was the National Director for the run/walk event series for the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Setter graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He spent the first part of his career working in the construction materials industry, taking on a variety of roles from business development to marketing and sales. He joined the nonprofit community in 2010, where he has been able to use the skills he learned from the for-profit world to better help nonprofit organizations leverage local resources and partnerships.

Excited for his new path, Challenged Athlete Foundation Director of Events Todd Setter said, “I have always been passionate about helping others in the local community and love being a part of organizations that truly make a difference in people’s lives. I am so excited to join the Challenged Athletes Foundation team and can’t wait to expand upon the incredible work that they do, while making a positive impact for even more individuals.”

Challenged Athletes Foundation CEO Ken Wheatley stated, “On behalf of Team CAF, we welcome Todd to the organization. I look forward to working together on the events that have been the foundation of CAF since the beginning like the San Diego Triathlon Challenge, plus looking forward to all of the experience he brings to the table from his previous endeavors to continue to grow the organization and help fulfill its mission.”

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
