After being diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 2005 and being told she would never run long distances competitively, she went against doctor’s orders and willed herself to succeed beyond the doctor’s or anyone’s expectations. Amazingly, she quickly built a reputation for success at many distances, including wins as part of the US National team, two second-place finishes at 70.3 World Championships and double-digit IRONMAN titles.
