Quintana Roo PRfive Wins Interbike/TBI Innovation Award

Chattanooga, TN (September 23, 2016) – American Bicycle Group (ABG), manufacturer of Quintana Roo triathlon bikes, announced today that its 2016 addition to the PR series – the PRfive – was named Triathlon Innovation of the Year by Triathlon Business International at the Interbike Awards dinner last night in Las Vegas, NV.  Nominees for the award were required to have been in production and available at retail between July 1, 2015 and June 15, 2016.  The award considered all categories of triathlon, including bikes, wheels, components, accessories, and clothing, and nominees were considered based on overall design, performance, spec, price and styling.  Earlier this year, the PRfive was also named LAVA magazine’s 2016 Editor’s Pick for Gear-of-the-Year, Bike Technology.

The PRfive is considered to have “superbike performance, without the superbike price.”  It shares a frame and cutting edge aerodynamics with the PRsix.  The bike is light, up to 400 grams lighter than some competitors’ frames.  Its standard front end design also makes it easier for the average triathlete to mechanically work on and travel with.  The PRfive starts at $3,700 with Ultegra components and is offered in four color schemes.

“Being acknowledged by Triathlon Business International, and earlier by LAVA magazine, speaks not only to the significance of our design development, but it also acknowledges our commitment to age group triathletes,” said ABG Peter Hurley upon accepting the award. “We have a passion for the sport and wanted to create a tri bike that was affordable, flexible and highly competitive.  Thank you Triathlon Business International, it feels like we’ve accomplished this,”

About American Bicycle Group

Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, American Bicycle Group manufactures leading-edge, high performance bikes under two brands: Litespeed (road, mountain and adventure bikes) and Quintana Roo (triathlon-specific bikes). Litespeed’s titanium technology makes it the leading manufacturer of cold-worked, cycling-specific tubesets in the world, which led to a partnership with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to fabricate the wheels’ framework of the Mars Land Rover.  Quintana Roo is the only company in the world entirely devoted to triathlon bikes and its PRfive model was designated as LAVA magazine’s Editor’s Pick Gear-of-the-Year for Bike Technology, an award Quintana Roo also won in 2015 with the PRsix.  http://ift.tt/1omUyoL

About

Growing up in Colorado you can't help but love the outdoors. Something magical happens with 300 days of sunshine and the Rocky Mountains in your back yard. My athletic endeavors started on the bike, I would get out and ride whenever I could. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, England for work. I missed the sunshine and mountains, but discovered my passion for running. When I moved back to Colorado I started combining cycling and running, so it was only natural that I started competing in triathlons. I took second place at my first sprint, and caught the bug. Today I'm training for my fourth Ironman.
